Seats of Consciousness currently provides carpentry instruction to program participants on an ad hoc basis, usually in conjunction with teens and adults who currently volunteer with Fair Foods.
We Need Your Help
As of January 2007, we are campaigning to evolve our program into a formalized educational course, aligned with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks for Mathematics. The program will target Boston Public School students in 8th grade and up and will incorporate lessons from Algebra I, Geometry, and Number Sense into the existing Seats of Consciousness manufacturing process, all while emphasizing written mastery and collaborative learning. In this way, we will provide a powerful after-school and summer resource to teenagers in Dorchester, Roxbury, South Boston, and beyond. But we will need your support to get there.
